Maminn Hostel

There are rooms at different prices, a shared room for 2500 and a four-bed room for 3000. In summer, getting to the hostel is no problem, and its quiet spot in a neighborhood of private homes makes it easy to reach any part of the city. The downsides are the dated furniture, including a sofa you can't sit on, and entertainment is limited to two PCs and a TV that sometimes doesn't work. The iron's surface is covered in stains, so using it is at your own risk. The bed is reasonably comfortable, but the pillows are so soft they feel like nothing, though some people might like that.

The beds are comfortable and set up with curtains for privacy, two outlets, a luggage locker and mini safe. Clean sheets, a duvet and a blanket are included in the price. Even in a small space, everything is well organized and very clean. There's laundry, ironing, a hairdryer and a well-equipped kitchen. Breakfast costs extra, but it was freshly made and delicious. The staff were fantastic, helpful, polite and easy to talk to. This is exactly the kind of hostel I'd choose as a model, definitely worth staying at.

I've stayed here twice now. When I come to Astana, I book a bed on WhatsApp and just arrive without looking for another hostel. The administrators are polite, sensible and friendly. The hostel is on the Left Bank in a separate building with its own janitor and benches, in the private sector of the prestigious Chubary district. There's a large kitchen with good dishes and high-quality European appliances, plus good bed linen and towels. Tea, coffee and cookies are included. Daily room cleaning keeps the place clean and cozy. Knock on wood, hope it stays this way.

There's a nice courtyard, and the beds and showers are comfortable. The center is walkable, with a mall, circus, aquarium and huge park nearby. Staff are friendly, and they keep the place very clean. Cookies, snacks and tea are free. I'd definitely recommend it.
