Things were great apart from the female receptionists. They weren’t good with guests, never smiled, and wouldn’t listen to suggestions. My card payment failed because of the PIN: mine has six digits, while Kazakhstan uses four. We finally worked it out by paying the daily rate. If only the girls had been willing to listen.

The biggest letdown was the free breakfast. It was pretty much just an omelette, a few pieces of bread and a coffee, which felt worthless. They charge 1000tenge for an extra bed or even a piece of butter, and a bottle of water costs 750 tenge, so I’d avoid eating at the hotel. There are eateries right outside where you can eat for much less. The decent property has about 40 rooms and is about 2kms from Astana Train Station. We checked in on 18.02.24 to a nice triple Bed room with central heating, sound proofing and an electric kettle. The toilet was good but had no ventilation, which was a problem. There was also a store room.
