Green House

We were shocked when we arrived at the apartment my husband and I had rented at 105 Zhumabayeva Street, entrance 3. It hadn’t been cleaned after the previous tenants, and there were no cleaning supplies in the bathroom or anywhere else. We wanted to clean up since we were supposed to stay until 4:30 PM. Instead, someone came to evict us at 10:00 AM. We called Green House to ask why we were being made to leave early. They said we’d have to pay another 2,000 rubles to stay until 4:30 PM. Don’t bother with this company. They don’t deserve even one star.

I’m horrified, and my guests are just as shocked. We rented a two-room luxury apartment, 107 sq. m., on Mira Street for guests from Shymkent. The bathroom looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned in two months, and the ventilation was caked in dirt. There was no rug until we asked for one. The floor was cold, and there were no slippers, laundry detergent, air freshener, or other bathroom supplies. The kitchen had just a battered frying pan and a dirty 3-liter saucepan, though there were plenty of glasses. The old fridge had ice hanging off it by about 20 centimeters. The washing machine seemed pre-war, and nobody could show us how to use it. The blankets belonged in a barn for animals or over potatoes to protect them from frost. When I asked if the guy would use one himself, he said with disgust, “What are you talking about? Of course not!” There were cobwebs everywhere and tons of cockroaches. I sent them a photo so they could see. Don’t rent apartments in this center.

For an apartment without a balcony, oven, stove, or even proper dishes and cutlery, 7 grand is far too much. I’d put the maximum at 3 thousand. How am I meant to cook for myself? The windowsills were covered with cigarette burns, despite smoking supposedly being prohibited. Couldn’t they at least put a reminder sticker by the entrance? They said the place had been renovated, but the hangers were missing, cables dangled, the hot water taps were fitted wrong, and there were plenty of other problems. The internet was a mess because there wasn’t any. They gave us the neighbor’s password, but that didn’t really work either. We arrived and rented without trouble, so thanks, gentlemen, for putting us up. Here’s your well-earned star. 🌟

They asked us to wait while the maid cleaned the apartment. When we got in, sand stuck to our feet and the rug was filthy. There were bone scraps in the closet, dried pizza on the windowsill, and hair blocking the bathroom drain. One well-earned star.
