Nakorn Cafe Guest House

The location by the river is amazing, and the owner was great. They provide free bikes for getting to the Vat Phou temple.

We kept ordering meals here because the food was so fresh and tasty, even though we usually don’t eat where we stay. Mornings were lovely too, waking up to the Mekong sunrise from our clean, spacious room. The owner couple are incredibly kind, and we really enjoyed our long conversations. We had a wonderful time with Mon, Herbert, Mango and the cats at Nakorn River View. It feels like somewhere you could stay for weeks, and we hope to come back for much longer soon. 😊

We stayed in the separate building two houses down from the main one for three nights. From bed, we could watch the sun come up over the Mekong, and breakfast was delicious, with homemade yoghurt and good coffee. Since the 21st, the place has been under new management by a very friendly German/Laos couple. We’d happily stay again.

The temple was great, and the rooms here are large and nice, with hot showers and A.C. for 25€. We stumbled across the place and had only planned to stay one night. It’s a lovely spot beside the Mekong, and all the staff were super friendly. The owner, though, was weird enough that we wouldn’t come back. When we rented a scooter, he repeated four times that we’d be fully responsible for any damage, though we understood him the first time. It had almost no fuel, and we barely made it to a petrol station. He also yelled orders to staff without saying please or thank you.
