On the lobby floor there's free water, bananas, and coffee for guests, plus a place to sit and toilets. I first had a large room without windows. It was quite dark and depressing, with cigarette smoke coming in through gaps around the door. The shower and sink were small. It cost 400 baht per night. The sheets in that first room smelled strongly of sweat, and I could barely sleep. A day later I moved to a room with a balcony, a double bed, and a bigger shower, also for 400 baht. That room was much more comfortable and no outside smell came in, but the white sheets had stains. The hotel is in a good location and is very nice in some ways.

Lucky at reception was awesome. He speaks English, was very accommodating, and helped us throughout our three-night stay. The rooms are big and clean, and the bathroom is spacious too. The towels were clean and smelled good. Hom Pho guesthouse is excellent, and I'd really recommend it if you want a cheap hotel with great service and a clean, large room. Hom Pho Guesthouse 💪❤️👍💯

The staff were kind and very helpful, and their English was quite good. My room was fairly large and had a balcony facing the road. The quality was very good by the city's standards. They also arranged a return trip to Chiang Mai, crossing the border by minivan, for 450baht per person. It was super fast, taking 3hrs and 30min. What can I say? See you in 3 months.

They handled our laundry as well as booking the slow boat tickets. We stayed one night, then came back after the Gibbon experience. The staff were very friendly, the room and bathroom both fairly large, and soap and shampoo were provided. Coffee and tea were available in the lobby. Rates were reasonable, and it was a neat, pleasant place to stay.

The price was reasonable: 150,000 kip a night (USD $8.60) for a double room. We got a better rate by showing up than the online price. One note, the Lao currency is dropping quickly, so prices may change accordingly. The front desk staff were kind, helpful, and spoke English well. They let us use a locked area for our bikes. It's right in the middle of town, within walking distance of food, coffee, bars, and more. Our room was clean and had the basics, plus a view and balcony area, hot water, A/C, a fridge, and TV. We stayed one night while passing through.
