The food was delicious, inexpensive and served in generous portions. We also got lots of helpful information about getting to the guesthouse. It's possible to get there cheaply, though it can cost more if you choose a private boat. This is a simple place with a nice atmosphere, clean but not luxurious, and plenty to do. There are books, games, flyers and homemade information folders. You can walk around the island, swim in the river, especially sitting where there are rapids right outside, take a motorbike trip to nearby Don Det, Don Khone or Don Khong, try a cooking class, or go fishing with locals. Next door, Don Som Project gives village children a place to play, learn and do sports. I visited and played soccer with the kids and volunteers who help run it. A fantastic place, I'll come back!

I was grateful to Tanoi for sorting out my arrival and onward trip so well. The shared bathrooms were always clean and there were enough for everyone. My room was tiny, but the bed was comfortable and the view from my hammock was amazing. It cost so little, too. I loved sitting with the other guests, exploring the lovely island and meeting its lovely people, and eating the great food. Playing with the kids at their activity center was unforgettable. Coming by boat, I was already charmed by the peaceful guesthouse, and Tanoi and Sander gave me such a lovely welcome.

I expected to stay two nights, then loved it enough to extend to four. The owners are amazing and the food is great. There's also an activity center where children from the village can learn and play somewhere safe. I highly recommend dropping by and spending an afternoon playing with them :)

Sander and Tanoi are attentive, enthusiastic hosts. The setting by the river is beautiful, with those idyllic scenes of rural life in Laos all around. The food was varied and delicious. Perfect!

Sander and Tanoi are wonderful hosts, and the food is incredible. I couldn't get enough of it! This was a trip highlight, a beautiful island with such good energy and a lovely place to connect with nature, unwind and get away from the main tourist spots. I'd recommend it to anyone, and hope I can return someday.
