Sokmisay Guest House

The location is fantastic. Most of the historic center is only a few minutes away on foot, and there are eateries nearby for every budget. The night market starts about 50 m from the front door. The old royal residence, Phousi Hill, and the ferry landing are all within a few hundred metres. Even so, it's lovely and quiet at night. Obee, the owner, is friendly and has lots of information for guests. The staff are efficient and busy around the place, but friendly, too. My room was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. I liked the veranda just outside my windows and the view over the small houses in the neighbourhood. I think it's very hard to beat here, and I'd book a room again without hesitation.

The owner’s care made our stay at Silikhane Guest House feel personal from the start. He welcomed us warmly, took care of special requests, and made sure we felt at home. We moved to Silikhane guesthouse for our last five nights and were very glad we did. The first guesthouse we tried was outside town, more expensive, and unpleasant, with a dark room and a noisy fan. At Silikhane, our first-floor bedroom was cleaned every day, and the location right at the edge of the night market worked really well. The staff were friendly, and having laundry done on site was handy. I’d recommend staying here.

We arrived early in the morning hoping to find somewhere we could check into straight away and sleep. The owner we met, who’s still a student, showed us around and let us pay when we checked out. He was really nice. The place is budget-friendly and close to both the night market and morning market, but surprisingly quiet. Our cozy king-size bed was great, and I slept really well.
