The rooms are clean, private, and nicely designed with strong wooden details, though the room itself isn’t very large. It has the standard amenities you’d expect from a hotel, and I appreciated the refillable drinking water bottles as a way to reduce plastic waste. Villa Mara is quiet and peaceful, a good place to relax or work remotely. The surroundings are well maintained, with cozy spots to sit, unwind, or get some work done. It suits couples or anyone after a calm setting. Staff were polite, friendly, and ready to help from check-in. A warm, relaxing stay in Luang Prabang.

Quiet is what stood out most here. The staff were friendly, and someone was always at reception if we needed help. Breakfast was tasty and generous. Our room was roomy and clean, with the shower and toilet in separate spaces. It also had a fridge, AC, fan, kettle, hot and cold drinking water, toothbrush, soap, and slippers. A real hidden gem.

The noisy neighbours across the street made our first night less pleasant, though we slept through it. The next night was much quieter. We liked the peaceful street and the lovely wooden house, which felt like a nice place to unwind. Staff were helpful, the room and patio were clean, and the bed was large and comfortable. There was no hot water in the shower, but we didn't mention it because the warm weather made it manageable. Breakfast was basic but fine for me, though not ideal for my partner, who doesn't like eggs. Free water refills were a nice extra. We'd stay again.

We were on our honeymoon and had requested a large bed and a quiet room through Agoda three months ahead. Instead, we got separate beds in room 105, just a few meters from the shared area that serves as the restaurant and kitchen. Kitchen staff began setting up around 5:45 am, and service started at 7. The noise was right outside our room, and we couldn't sleep at all. We had to check out because the hotel hadn't met those basic requests, especially the request for quiet, and we lost time in Luang Prabang finding somewhere better to stay. If they can't provide what a guest asks for, I don't understand why they don't say so honestly in advance. This is a small guesthouse with noise starting at 5:45 am, and they couldn't give us a double bed as a couple. It felt hugely disrespectful. I gave two stars instead of one only because they gave us a refund. I don't understand how this place has a 4.6/5 rating. Go to Pearl hotel instead, it has a pool and great staff for the same price. It's amazing!

After a full day exploring Luang Prabang, this is a lovely, gentle home to come back to and rest in. The price is fair, and everyone on staff is kind and attentive.
