Domon Riverside Hotel

After hearing several reports that our first potential host had tried to steal from guests, we put our search for somewhere else to stay in Vang Vieng on hold. At Domon, they had no problem letting us inspect the rooms and showed us several options. They were really accommodating about us partying at checkout, which mattered after our concerns about having our things stolen. Our room was spacious and clean, with a wonderful view. Hemant made the stay even better. He’d ask what we needed, then offer five or more options for travel problems, from restaurant recommendations and places to avoid to routes around the region, onward transport, and his handy homemade map. He quickly became our go-to person. Hemant, if you’re reading this, thank you for making our Vang Vieng experience so much better. I wish every place we stayed had a Hemant. We’d only suggest adding safes. The hotel may be safe, but given what happened before, having one would’ve made us feel more at home.

The view was great, and we had a balcony, but the place wasn’t the cleanest. Staff didn’t seem keen to work or help us. You can rent a scooter there and book activities with the women at the hotel, though.

The location was a real plus: close enough to get around easily, but set back from the main road so it felt calmer. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff made everything straightforward. They handle tours, suggestions for places to explore on your own, and rides to the train station efficiently and with care. Their scooter rentals felt honest and clear, which matters when rental scams can be a concern. They also exchanged money at the actual market rate and didn’t fuss over small marks on bills. The prices were reasonable, and the thoughtful amenities made the value stand out. The service felt like what I’d expect at a five-star resort, without the high price. I left very satisfied.

The owners and staff were so welcoming that we really felt at home. With the beautiful view and peaceful atmosphere, the stay felt special, and we’ve come away with only good memories of this town. Thank you for everything!
