Jasmine Vangvieng Hotel

I've never had a worse experience. The room was disgusting: filthy walls covered in some unidentifiable mess, a horrible stench that made it hard to breathe, and no sense of cleanliness at all. It smelled like a toilet that had never been cleaned. I honestly don't understand how anyone could sleep there. I arrived at 4 in the morning and asked for a room. The man working there barely spoke English, so the conversation was confusing and frustrating, though I clearly said I wanted to book for the night and leave the next day. Seven hours later, a younger, polite employee knocked and said the boss wanted me to check out. I calmly explained that wasn't our agreement and offered to pay for another night to avoid trouble. Instead, the boss came up yelling and pointing aggressively in my face. I stayed quiet, packed, and left right away. This is the first negative review I've ever written, and it feels deserved. The place deserves no customers. Avoid it at all costs. I didn't have time to take photos or videos and share the worst experience you could have.

I paid a little extra for a fourth-floor room at this excellent budget hotel. There was a small table and chair outside, with a lovely view of the mountains. The staff were wonderful and helped arrange the activities I wanted to do. It's very central for nightlife, but still quiet enough to sleep. The location was perfect.

The best part was the amazing view from my third-floor room. Otherwise, I don't know why this place had such good reviews, which I relied on when booking. My room was dirty, the sheets were stained, and what was in the pillowcases felt like five hard lumps, not pillows. There was no lockbox, despite them saying there would be one, which was worrying with the door handle about to fall off. I've stayed in much cheaper places in SEA that were far better.

The hotel is nice, with a spacious room and a swimming pool. You can pay extra for a mountain view. Unfortunately, our stay was overshadowed by the receptionist repeatedly insisting we hadn't paid for the room the night before, even though we had. They even came into our room without knocking or permission to remind us again.
