Regis Hotel

If you’re considering it for the low price, know what you’re getting. During my stay in 2022/05, there was no electricity or internet for about 70-80% of the day, so the room got dark and very hot at night. Hygiene was poor, and they wouldn’t change sheets or towels unless asked. Most of the staff were unfriendly, though one Syrian man was kind and helpful. Bugs and mosquitoes were everywhere, and I got around 20 bites in one night. They showed me a better room, then gave me a worse one. I was told electricity would be available 80% of the day, but it only worked a couple of hours daily. They also made me pay for the whole visit upfront and didn’t give me a receipt. If I had the choice again, I’d pay a little more for somewhere with electricity and internet, and hopefully without bugs and mosquitoes.

The cats are funny, and if you like cats, you’ll love these two, even though I normally don’t. What made this place work for me was the staff: they were very nice, spoke English, and were friendly, which matters a lot when Beirut can be such a difficult city for tourists. Electricity was on most of the time, probably no worse than elsewhere. Accommodations in Beirut are overpriced, and this is probably among the cheapest along with Mozart Hotel. I preferred it to Mozart, though Regent’s location and rooms were a bit below Mozart’s level.

A decent option for someone on an average income, especially for a short stay.

We’ve spent a week here and would definitely come back to the Regis Hotel if we return to Lebanon. It’s clean and comfortable, has a family atmosphere, and the staff are super friendly. Thanks for everything. Roger&Lorena
