Miramar Hotel Resort & Spa

The compensation they offered was disgraceful. We were leaving, so four extra free days were completely useless to us. They also charged exorbitant amounts for electricity and internet, which was five times what we pay in Australia. I’m adding pictures this time because my previous review seems to have been removed. The ceiling nearly caved in twice, and water damage reached the light fixtures, creating a serious safety hazard and possible electrocution risk. We’ll never stay here again or recommend it to friends and family. Stay elsewhere. I don’t see this place improving.

I’ve visited Miramar Beach Resort regularly for years, but after being refused entry, I’ll never return. I went with a friend and made clear from the start that we were two men. At first they said that was fine. As soon as I gave my friend’s name, they changed their story and turned us away. He is Muslim. Minutes later, I watched two Christian men enter without a problem. We showed our Canadian passports to make clear we were visitors, but were still treated differently on the basis of religion. This was blatant discrimination and completely unacceptable for a place marketed as a resort. We went instead to Rocca Marina, just 15 minutes down the road, and found it much nicer, more welcoming, and more respectful. I’ll report the incident directly to the Canadian embassy. No one should spend money at a resort that openly discriminates against people because of their faith. Shame on Miramar.

They told us Muslims weren’t allowed to swim and pointed us to the rules and regulations board. Yet that board said swimming hours were 10am to 8pm, while lots of people were swimming at midnight and 2am. They don’t even follow their own rules, and before quoting them to guests, they should learn how to communicate with people. It was overpriced and bad, honestly the worst experience I’ve had at a resort or hotel in or out of Lebanon. I’m so disappointed.

I found the resort on social media, liked what I saw, and decided to visit. After a long drive, I was disappointed to learn that men aren’t allowed in alone. I was by myself, and the way I was treated felt unprofessional and disrespectful. It’s a shame for a resort like this to treat visitors this way. I hope they reconsider their policies and approach.
