Mango Beach Inn

The view of the bay through the dining room windows is astounding. Judith and John were amazing hosts at Mango Beach Inn. Each morning they left us a printed note with a little tidbit about the bay and the day’s weather in St. Lucia, then compared it with the weather back home. We were visiting from DC in February, and that made us appreciate the islands’ warmth even more.

Mango Beach has such a lovely building and a great spot in Marigot Bay. It’s away from the busier areas, but you can get to the beach along the boardwalk or take the free ferry, which takes a minute, to most of the restaurants and bars. Hassey's Bar is just below and has good pizza and excellent BBQ in the evenings at much lower prices than some other places in Marigot. Hassey is charming and attentive, treating everyone like a friend. Judith, John, their staff, and their three lovely dogs, Nema, Bella and Honey, made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. We only got back to the UK last night and already can’t wait to return.

This is a must-visit spot in one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful bays. The owners put a lot of effort into making the experience enjoyable, and they clearly care about the bay too. They’re involved with Caribbean SEA, a local group working to keep the island’s water clean for years to come. Wonderful people with even bigger hearts.

Getting here means taking the free ferry from the other side of the bay. Once there, it’s a short walk through the trees and mangroves on a boardwalk to the local beach. The family-run inn has a small pool and a lovely garden on the hillside, just above the Rainforest Hideaway restaurant, which the owners also run. They have cats and dogs. The simple breakfasts are served in a delightful room with one of the best views over Marigot Bay. Friendly family and good accommodation in a beautiful setting.
