Hotel Schlosswald

The shower was great and breakfast was good, but the rest of the stay was frustrating. We were sweltering without air conditioning, and the room was meant to have a double bed but had two singles pushed together. There was no kettle, tea, or coffee, just one tiny biscuit for two of us. Our balcony had one chair and one bottle of water, though there were two of us. A socket was hanging out of the wall with wires visible and looking dangerous. We went down to reception to ask for a kettle, but the lift wouldn't come. I took the stairs, but couldn't get into reception. I went down again with the key, and the door was locked from the other side with nobody there, despite reception supposedly being staffed 24/7. The bar wasn't open either. We felt locked in, couldn't make a hot drink, and couldn't get food there in the evening. The receptionist was very nice, but that didn't make up for the hotel's tardiness. They should say when booking that the bar and evening food aren't available. If we'd known, we wouldn't have booked.

The hotel owners are very friendly, the views are excellent, and breakfast was delicious. I found the room comfortable even in high temperatures with a fan, despite there being no air conditioning. There was a fridge and balcony in the room, plus laundry service. The WiFi was strong and fast, handy for video calls. For getting around without a car, there are two very convenient bus stops, and there's parking on site. Central Vaduz is about a 15-20 minute walk away. A lovely option for staying in Liechtenstein.

We arrived at about 7pm after a long journey. The woman on her own didn't offer us refreshments, and I felt she was only interested in taking our money for the night. The bar was advertised as open but wasn't, and there didn't seem to be any other staff. We couldn't find any tea or coffee in the room, just one small bottle of water and one biscuit for the two of us. A socket was hanging out of the wall with wires showing. My wife went to reception to ask for a kettle, but the door was locked. We later realized we were locked inside the hotel, so we couldn't go out and get anything to eat. There was a fire door, but we wouldn't have been able to get back in. Breakfast was two fried eggs and a couple of tiny pieces of bacon. At least the bed was comfortable, the view was nice, and the shower was great. But it cost £167 for ONE night and wasn't worth £50. Absolutely disgraceful. We would never stay here again. Stay here at your peril!

The room was very clean, fully stocked, and finished to a high standard. The reception team took care of everything we needed and arranged our travel plans. The hotel is perfectly located and very well managed. Thank you all for making our stay so wonderful and memorable for all the right reasons. Would recommend.
