Tharanga Surfing Villa

The rooms and bathrooms could use more frequent cleaning and an update. Room No.1 stayed musty and was very dark, with no proper ventilation. Leaving the door open only let ants and flies in. On the plus side, the beachfront spot is excellent, close to restaurants and the next town. Breakfast was generous and delicious, with fruit and omelettes, and the staff were very friendly, especially Mangula, who was always ready to help.

The room had exactly what I needed: a good bed, cold shower, air conditioning, and a lovely view from the bed out to the garden and ocean. I planned to stay one week in the off season, but wound up staying four at Tharanga Surfing Villa. The staff were so welcoming, even when I was the only guest because of the difficult situation in Sri Lanka. They shared meals with me and brought me fruit. I had a great time and can highly recommend staying there.

The staff were friendly, and breakfast was basic. Coffee and tea were included, but water cost extra and felt too expensive. The bottles seemed to get smaller over time while the price stayed the same. I stayed three weeks and had booked a ground-floor room for a little more. At first they put me on the first floor, which was okay with me. Its bathroom floor was always wet, though the room itself was dry and didn't smell bad. The second room, on the ground floor, was very dark and smelled really bad. It had no windows or ventilation, and the room and floor were always damp.

I came back because the staff are such nice, respectful, generous people, and they do their work really well. Thanks for everything.
