We got help quickly whenever we asked, and the staff were kind. The room was roomy, clean, and well looked after, though the Wi-Fi didn’t work. Check-in was simple and quick, and it’s easy to get here by train, bus, or car. For food nearby, there are several breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Walkers is a good choice for a quick, affordable rice and curry buffet. Hotel Shalini is only two minutes from the guesthouse, in a lovely old wooden building, and also serves dinner to people who aren’t staying there. Its rice and curry was delicious. There are ATMs and a petrol station close by too. The sign by the road doesn’t say “Cottage Tourist Rest,” the name shown on Google or booking, so I posted a picture to help people find it. It is the right place, just follow Google and you’ll get there. :-)

The rooms feel very old, and the price they charge makes their condition especially disappointing. Even the TV doesn’t have satellite connection. The staff were friendly and helpful, which was the one good part.

I’ve been coming here for a long time, and the service has been excellent. The rooms work well for a longer stay, and the place sits right by the main city while still feeling peaceful and undisturbed. Highly recommended!

For three people, one night was 4000, and the price for the quality is hard to beat. It’s a nice hostel with a good breakfast, not too far from the center. It’s also near Shalini restaurant, where the food is very good, though a huge curry costs a little more, 1000.

This is a handy cheap option if you need a bed and breakfast in Anuradhapura during the busy season. It could use some work to make the place feel cleaner and cozier. Its location is prime, so it would be great if the owners could turn things around. Choose it if you’re in a hurry and looking for a low-cost stay 😉.
