Thimbiri Wewa Resort - Wilpattu

The restaurant staff were thoughtful in a way that stuck with me. Before breakfast, they had set the table for one at the same seat I’d chosen for dinner the night before. The food was very nice, and the rooms and surroundings lovely. I spent two lovely nights at Thimbiri. The staff were warm and welcoming, and as a solo traveler I’d highly recommend the resort. I’m surprised it’s rated 3 star rather than 4, and I’d definitely stay again.

During our safari trip, staying here felt like finding an oasis in the wild. We were surrounded by nature, yet the hotel was maintained to the highest standards. We had an incredible experience.

We booked our safari directly through the hotel, and the pool was really nice. The rooms are great, and since the place is quite new, they’re in perfect shape with everything you’d expect from a 3 to 4-star hotel. Food was okay, not great. The restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol, even though there’s a full cupboard of bar utensils and glasses. I’d visit again.

The rooms are a little compact, but they do the job when most visitors will spend nearly the whole day at Wilpattu National Park. The resort is new, well maintained, and the facilities are top notch. They even accommodated our very late check-in, which I really appreciated, and the staff were especially helpful. Prices are quite reasonable for what’s provided. Such a cozy stay, and we’ll definitely come back ❤️
