Uga Ulagalla - Anuradhapura

We only stayed two days, and it felt far too short. We’re already looking forward to coming back. The deluxe suite was a great deal for me as a Sri Lankan resident, even in high season, and comfortably fit the three of us while giving us privacy and a warm family feel. It was very fair value for money. Mornings were lovely for cycling around the grounds and enjoying the nature and tranquility. I also had a dip in the pool while a peacock nearby tried to attract females with a full feather display. The service felt personal, with everyone seeming to know what we were doing and ready to help. Everything was thoughtfully done. We loved the varied breakfast, and the Sri Lankan dinner at the other restaurant was a highlight: 25 local dishes in a beautiful setting that still felt authentic. Yoshina and her colleagues were friendly and professional, and also turned out to be great Sinhala teachers, which made for lots of fun interactions. We can see why the last review called this one of the best hotel experiences. Even days after leaving, we’re still talking about our family stay at this stunning place.

We wished we’d had more time at Uga Ulagalla. The villa was private, clean, and convenient, and the food was next level, with a unique menu to suit every palate. The staff were warm and catered to every request, and the buggy team made sure we had a pleasant stay. Driving the buggy around the paddy fields and the beautiful property was so much fun. There are lots of experiences, including horse riding, and we enjoyed hearing stories about the property. From entering the grounds through to leaving, the whole weekend was beyond exceptional. They even gave us a photo frame to capture our memories. A huge thank you to everyone at Uga Ulagalla for making this our most memorable stay.

The villa pool had insect larvae in it, though the main pool was perfectly clean. Meals took a while because everything was cooked to order. The secluded villa suites are amazing, surrounded by jungle, with the chance of seeing elephants and lots of birds. Superb hotel.

We chose this beautiful property as a family because it’s conveniently located for visiting Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi. The whole team worked hard to make our stay comfortable and memorable. Chef Dinesh and Asanka prepared the Kiri Ahara for the offerings and had everything ready right on time. Kusal was also attentive and caring throughout. Some things could be improved, including the food and a few bathroom fixtures, but I’m confident those will be addressed in time. We had a fabulous stay and would choose this place again on our next visit. Thank you to the entire Uga team for the warm hospitality and support.
