Weaver Bird Villa

Our host was wonderful and did everything she could for us. Her daughters cooked lovely dinners and breakfasts, and the rooms were clean with everything we needed. The place feels like a real Sri Lankan village, with even a primary school next door. It was good value and one of the best places we stayed in Sri Lanka. I’d definitely recommend Weaver Bird. You might get better value by arranging your elephant safari somewhere else, though.

Aunties cooking was the highlight, proper old school Sri Lankan flavor, really special and a notch above most restaurants. We had a great couple of nights here. The room was large and tidy, the bed comfortable, and everything clean.

The place is tucked away from the road, so it was quiet, and we enjoyed walking around on our own with all the birds to listen to. The rooms were clean and looked after well. We stayed two nights and had enough time to visit Sigriya and polornurwa comfortably. Mr Sharath was so thoughtful and welcoming. He helped us plan our days and made us proper srilanka breakfasts and dinners. Just let him know ahead if you want dinner, though. If he hasn't prepared it, the restaurant across the street is very overpriced and the food is terrible.

Sachi was lovely to talk to and could answer all our questions, from getting around to what sights were worth seeing and cultural differences. The whole family really made an effort to make us feel welcome. Our room was spacious and spotless, and the food granny cooks was the best I ate during five weeks in Sri Lanka. There was plenty of it too, so the price felt fair. It felt like a home away from home. Thank you so much! Heike
