Havelock Place Bungalow

We had a pleasant breakfast in the restaurant area, and I’d recommend going there for dinner too, for its fine dining fusion. The boutique hotel is clean and pleasant. It’s charming, though the rooms feel a bit unusual since it isn’t a proper hotel. The outdoor bathroom was really cool, but our room was small. For what we paid, I’ve no complaints.

The service was excellent, and the menu was refreshingly short compared with the book-length menus at most places. We came for dinner with friends. The food was decent, though there’s room to improve: the curry powder overpowered the beef cheek. Maybe I’ll return on my next visit.

The staff greeted us with such welcoming smiles after our long flight. We spent our first night in Sri Lanka at Havelock place Bungalow. It’s a boutique place where art meets modern architecture, and the in-house restaurant Gini has a menu worth trying. It’s a little way from the city centre, which makes it a cozy choice if you want a break from the city’s hustle. Tuktuks make it easy to get around. Galle Face Green and Port City are only 10 minutes away, so it’s a nice balance between being away from the noise and still close to the city.

The cozy atmosphere is especially charming when it’s lightly raining. This Colombo bungalow really felt like home, with a peaceful, calming vibe. We’d highly recommend it if you’re after a relaxing stay.
