Hostel Republic at Galle Face

We had a pleasant stay at the Galle Face Hotel during the Sri Lankan New Year, from 12-15 April 2026. The property is beautiful, and the views and caring staff made the visit memorable. Ivoni, the Guest Relations Officer, deserves a special thank you. She arranged Room 3006 for us and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. From there we could see both the sea and the land, and the dusk view was unforgettable. Her attention and genuine care for guests really showed. At the Verandah Restaurant, Nazlin (sorry if I got the name wrong) served us several times. Her friendly manner and lovely smile made breakfast especially enjoyable, and her warmth and professionalism added a personal touch. The front office team also welcomed us graciously when we arrived. I’d wholeheartedly recommend the Galle Face Hotel for a lovely stay and excellent service.

The family room was comfortable and nice, though it wasn’t as updated as some of the other rooms. The hotel’s history gives the place so much character, and the grounds are stunning, with beautifully maintained gardens. We loved relaxing by the pool, and the location is fantastic for ocean views. The hospitality was incredible from start to finish. Everyone was welcoming and attentive and made us feel well looked after. A beautiful, memorable stay in a charming historic hotel.

I came for dinner at the Galle Face Hotel buffet around 7pm and ended up staying nearly three hours. I’m having a genuinely wonderful time. The food is good, but the staff stood out most. Karan, Dimansha, Suranjan and Raja were superb: warm, friendly, professional and attentive, while still feeling personable. I never felt left alone or uncared for. It was like being among people who really wanted me to have a good time. Thanks to them and the whole team. I wasn’t paid to write this, just giving credit where it’s due.

Belinda at the front desk welcomed us warmly and was professional and attentive from the moment we arrived. Her manager, Devatha, went out of the way to make sure things were right and kindly arranged an upgrade. Our room was incredibly spacious, spotlessly clean and elegantly furnished, which made it easy to relax. We also enjoyed dinner at the restaurant, with delicious food and a lovely evening atmosphere. The Galle Face Hotel brings together heritage style and modern comfort so well, and the generous hospitality made our trip unforgettable.
