The garden was a highlight, with a swing and seats, and the housekeeping seemed nice. The house is peaceful and well looked after, and the rooms were cleaner and cheaper than other budget hotels we considered. The beds are large and comfortable, and the non-AC rooms have fans. Bathrooms were clean, though they’re shared and could be an issue when there are more guests. We were the only ones staying during our visit, so that wasn’t a problem. They provide towels but no toiletries, as you’d expect at this price. Food can be ordered on request. A good budget stay.

A nice, affordable place in a central spot, which made it easier to get around to places we wanted to visit. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and the washrooms were too. We could ask for food at a reasonable price. The garden is lovely and well kept, with hammocks, a swing, a small badminton court, a Carom board and lots of seating. Staff were friendly and supportive. There are quite a lot of mosquitoes, so bring repellent. The wall fans in the rooms and hall have decent power, though the heat can build up during the day in this climate. It was manageable for us.

Breakfast was delicious and generous, with freshly cooked omelettes, sausage, bread or fruit, plus tea and coffee. The beds were really comfortable, and the room was clean. It’s a lovely hostel in central Dambulla, with friendly staff who were happy to suggest places to visit. The welcoming atmosphere and funky artwork on the walls made it feel nice. I’d recommend it to other backpackers.

Please don’t stay here. The photos don’t reflect the place, which was very dirty. I wouldn’t consider it suitable for a family. 😡😠😠
