The owner’s family made us feel completely at home, and the garden is beautiful. We stayed two nights in two rooms at Girilena Resort and loved it. It’s very close to the Dambulla Caves, making it a must-stay in Dambulla. Highly recommend!

The family were so helpful and could arrange transport, and there are plenty of tuk tuks and local restaurants nearby. It was easy to get to local attractions, and we had a very nice experience. The monkeys visit regularly too.

We booked at the last minute while road-tripping by tuktuk, and it turned out better than we could have hoped. The host family were lovely, cooked us delicious dinner and breakfast, and can help with activities if you stay longer. Our room was huge, with a comfortable bed, a floor-to-ceiling window facing the garden, and a nice, clean bathroom. The place felt peaceful in the jungle, with monkeys walking around, but the cave and town centre were close. The ATM in the centre was a 5 minute drive, and the cave temple was 2 minutes away.

We stayed in a very cosy tree house in Dambulla with a lovely, welcoming family, and shared delicious breakfast and dinner with them. The Resort is within walking distance of the Cave Temple, which I found to be the most breathtaking Buddha Temple in Sri Lanka. The host also arranged the private Safari we requested. A Jeep picked us up in the morning, and we were very satisfied. Highly recommend!
