Lakmalee Homestay

We were glad to leave. The room was an absolute disaster, and after seeing it we knew staying there wasn’t an option, so we said we wanted to cancel. There were far too many beds, and you had to climb over some to reach the others. Although there was an air conditioner on the wall, we couldn’t get cold air from it and the room was extremely hot. The bathroom was filthy. We could also see into another room where clothing was piled messily on the bed. This couple didn’t seem in a position to host guests. We had booked after reading some good Trip Advisor reviews, only to realize they were several years old. The owner had forgotten we were coming. She and her husband seemed disorganized, though they came across as friendly and kind. While we sat drinking orange juice with Lakmalee, her husband said he was getting our room ready. After a long wait, we were told it was done. The dirt and grime on the stairs were already obvious on the way up, and the room itself was awful. I don’t know what Lakmalee’s husband had been doing when he was supposedly cleaning it.
