Lagoon Inn

Kamal and his wife made us feel like guests they genuinely cared about, not just another booking. Their warmth made our stay at Lagoon Inn Hotel in Hambantota special. Kamal even looked after an injured dog named Brown. It was a small act of kindness, but it says a lot about how thoughtful and compassionate they are. We also took their safari vehicle to Bundala National Park. It was well organized and enjoyable from start to finish, and became one of the highlights of our stay. The hotel itself is peaceful and scenic, a great place to slow down away from busy tourist spots. I’d happily recommend Lagoon Inn for a relaxing stay and heartfelt hospitality.

A peaceful, affordable place with a lovely garden and birds. It’s a classic-looking colonial hotel, and the air con room was nice. The meals were good and inexpensive. The owners can arrange a four-hour park tour at a good price, and there’s a good pub just down the road.

Kamal is a fantastic safari guide. We went with him for an afternoon in the Park and had a terrific time, seeing abundant and varied birdlife. With his guidance we visited many tanks and watering holes teeming with birds and elephants. The Inn is right by Bundala National Park, with a lovely deck for watching birds and animals. The rooms are clean and very nice. I highly recommend Lagoon Inn and Kamal for a great safari experience.

The host can arrange an affordable safari, and the place is right next to the park. He cooked us the best food I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Just don’t expect a resort at this price.
