We found the prices reasonable for a beachfront restaurant in a popular spot like Hikkaduwa, and the portions were generous. The seafood was fresh and nicely seasoned without being too oily. We enjoyed the platter with prawns, calamari, and grilled fish, and they also have Sri Lankan curries. Fresh juices and cocktails were refreshing, and a cold beer with the sunset was a lovely holiday moment. You can sit with your feet in the sand right by the beach. The sunset, ocean breeze, and waves make for a relaxed atmosphere, whether you’re with someone, friends, or on your own. The staff are friendly and welcoming, though at peak times you might wait a little. The food made it worthwhile. Mama’s Beach Restaurant is a relaxed, authentic place for beachside dining in Hikkaduwa, especially if you like seafood or sunsets. For sunset views, aim for 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM. During busy seasons, reserve a beachside table ahead of time. The seafood platter is a good size to share between two.

We stopped in for a quick lunch and had a great experience. The portions were generous, the food was fantastic, and the staff were friendly with super fast service. Cocktails weren’t the best, but the location is great and you get a lot for what you spend. Highly recommend.

The cheese, tomato, egg, and bacon sandwich was so delicious, and we really liked the restaurant and its perfect ocean view. The staff were still cleaning when we arrived, which was fine. But after sweeping, one person threw all the rubbish straight into the ocean. That really concerned us. We need to keep the ocean clean and take care of the environment.

We enjoyed dinner, with good music and a nice vibe, and the food was really good. I highly recommend the specials. We’d expected a calm outdoor meal near the beach, but there was no seating option on the beach itself, even though the ocean is right next to the restaurant.
