We found the place cozy and full of atmosphere, with tasty breakfasts and everything we needed. It was close to the beach but surrounded by jungle. The room was small and modest, with a tiny barred window and odd bedding, so those weren’t its strong points. Still, this was the first hotel on our first trip to Sri Lanka, and it left us with a warm impression. Our room had a safe, refrigerator, hairdryer, and kettle. The hosts thoughtfully lent us umbrellas when it rained. There’s a large veranda and clotheslines on the third floor, and a shower downstairs for rinsing off after the sea. A beautiful beach with turtles is about a five-minute walk away, with shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby, especially Red Lobster. One possible drawback is the railway right by the hotel. Trains pass several times a day and at night, making the walls shake. For the few days we stayed, though, we found it almost romantic. The beach is also about five minutes away, and the hosts were really kind and welcoming. We’d return.

We were just a 2-3 minute walk from one of the small swimming beaches, and our hosts were friendly and helpful. The shared areas were full of plants and beautifully looked after. Our spacious top-floor family room stayed cool and had very comfortable beds. It was spotless, with a big effective fan, great air conditioning, a safe, kettle, cups, glasses, and cutlery. The bathroom was lovely, with hot and cold showers, good lighting, and beautiful plants. We had a private balcony with a sea view on one side and a shared one overlooking the railway on the other. There were lots of fireflies. Trains went right past and were briefly noisy, but they didn’t bother us. We actually enjoyed watching them.

There’s a refrigerator in the room, and the hotel has a beach shower that was really handy for rinsing off sand before heading back. Breakfast was good, though not very filling. You can pick from several options for the following morning, and bottled water is available for a fee. The location is good and the room was clean enough, if not perfect. Its window faced a shared balcony, so we usually had to keep the curtains closed for privacy. The railway is right next to the hotel, and you can hear the trains loudly several times a day.

We had a lovely stay and would highly recommend the hotel. The staff were kind and helpful, and the place is close to a beautiful beach while still being centrally located. Restaurants, bars, and supermarkets are all very near.

The room was clean, roomy, and comfortable, and we really liked the breakfast. The manager was lovely and could arrange anything from tours to taxis. It’s across the street from the beach, but far enough from the main road to stay nice and quiet. We had a fantastic stay.
