The owner of villa kusum welcomed us warmly for a cooking class in typical Sri Lankan vegetable curries. The curry turned out so good. I’d definitely recommend the class.

We planned to stay for two nights and somehow stayed for two weeks. Dinesh, the owner, and Dana on staff are genuinely lovely, warm people, and made everything a pleasure. It’s right on the beach, with a pool as another option for swimming during monsoon season. The old colonial building still has its original fixtures and fittings, and loads of character. Hikkaduwa town and beach are about a half-hour walk or a short tuk-tuk ride away. Great value in the off season. We were sad to leave, and highly recommend it.

I was only here for a few hours, but had an incredible breakfast on the beach at around 2pm. Very clean, friendly, and a beautiful building and beach setting. I’ll stay here when I come back.

We had the whole place to ourselves on our off-season visit. Dinesh was one of the best hosts I’ve met, and Dananjaya made the stay fantastic. If you like antique style, you’ll enjoy it here. There’s a private beach, and Hikka coral reef and turtle beach are just a short tuk ride away.

The beachside location and lovely pool were great. The old villa is beautiful too, though it could use a little maintenance. Still, we had a good experience.
