Florence Cottage

We went as a group of about 12 for a weekend and booked both of the separate lodges. Each one comfortably sleeps about 5-6 people. The owner, the first person we contacted, was very supportive, and the caretaker and other staff went out of their way to make the stay memorable. A caretaker can cook if you bring ingredients. The price was affordable and worth it. For an extra cost, they can set up a camping hut outside for another 5-6 people, with a campfire. The place was comfortable, clean, and simply modern, with the facilities we needed, including a microwave, fridge, stove, and pantry. There are bathrooms with hot water and a lovely balcony or veranda overlooking the valley and mountains. They also have a BBQ grill, but we had to bring charcoal. We used public transport, taking a bus from Teldeniya town, about 15 km away, then walked or took a three wheeler. You can also come from Wattegama - Panvila side. The road is in good condition until the last 2-3 km, which is bumpy and broken. A vehicle with low ground clearance won't make it along that stretch. We highly recommend the place for its setting, facilities, and hospitality.

We had a pleasant stay at Florence cottage, surrounded by a tea estate and mountain views. The family cottage was clean and well maintained, with a bedroom, bathroom, mini kitchen, and dining area. It had all the comforts and facilities we needed. We brought dry rations, and the staff cooked good meals for us. BBQ facilities were available as well. The road is a bit difficult, but a car with good ground clearance can get there. The staff were very good.

A relaxed spot among a lush Tea Estate, with lovely mountain views. The two large cottages can comfortably fit 10 people, making it great for a family getaway. We brought our own provisions, and the chef prepared excellent food. We also had a BBQ night. The caretaker can do a bit of everything, including trekking and recommending private waterfalls for anyone who finds the walk to them difficult.

The houses are modern, comfortable, and clean, with bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens. Each can sleep five people, and there are barbecue facilities and outdoor seating. The view is amazing. Hot water is available, though the pressure is low. Both houses have TVs, but only the lower one has fans. The cleaning service was good, and everyone was friendly, but I wouldn't recommend hiring someone to cook. We paid Rs. 2,500 for food preparation, yet the cook didn't know how to barbecue properly and left out some ingredients we had supplied. I recommend preparing your own food here, though I do recommend the place itself.
