Mlsc City View Hostel Kandy

Manoj and his family were incredibly caring hosts, always ready to talk, help with travel plans, share honest advice, and make sure we felt safe and at home. They arranged transport, suggested local sights, shared stories, and checked how our day had gone. Their kindness felt completely genuine, and we left feeling like friends. The hostel has a lovely view over Kandy, and its quiet setting made it a welcome place to return to after a busy day, while still being close to the city and major attractions. It’s clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The rooms are simple but cozy, with comfortable beds. Our stay at Manoj’s MLSC Hostel – City View Hostel Kandy exceeded our expectations, and we hope to come back one day.

Manoj was already a wonderful host before I even arrived. He knows the best places and spots in town, and his personal hospitality made him the best host of my Sri Lanka trip. City view hostel Kandy is central and walkable to everywhere, yet quiet enough at night despite being in the busy heart of Kandy.

HORRIBLE I can’t understand how this place has more than 4 stars on GoogleMaps with so many positive reviews. The location is in the middle of the city, but it was extremely noisy at night and early in the morning. The entrance was hard to find, and getting there meant walking through slums. My dorm room had no fans or AC, so it was incredibly warm at night. The squeaky beds and synthetic mattresses made it even hotter. The owner used the common room as his living room, drinking and smoking with friends late into the evening. There were no doors to keep the smoke or noise out of the dorm, and I didn’t feel safe. The toilets were in a terrible state, and I had to shower with clumps of hair blocking the drain. I might sleep on the street next time and have a better experience.

The owner was one of the kindest people I’ve met, always friendly and helpful no matter how many questions I asked. The location made it easy to explore the city, and I could stop back to rest or pick up and drop off things. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, and while it’s not luxurious, it has what you need. I liked the room’s old-school feel. I was really happy I stayed here.
