It took six tries to reach the hotel by phone. When someone finally answered, they spoke to me in a harsh, bossy way and sounded angry and demanding. I didn’t feel any responsibility, hospitality, sensitivity, or respect in that conversation.

Getting to the lake and Buddha tooth temple on foot was easy, and the hotel sits in a lovely part of central Kandy. Our room had quality furnishings and a roomy restroom, and the shared balcony was large with a great view. The host was welcoming and pleasant to talk with. Breakfast was delicious, and they also offer laundry service. We had a very pleasant stay, thank you.

We paid in advance, but left without staying because the room we were given wasn’t the one we booked, and the photos bore no resemblance to what we found. From the moment we arrived, the owner insulted us and was hostile and aggressive. He seemed likely to be drunk when we got there. I felt sorry for his wife, who was trying to make up for his awful behavior. I’d doubted the bad reviews, but they were true. Avoid this place.

Friends, don’t book here. I think the few good reviews appeared while manager Gamini was away recovering from heart surgeries. His wife, or perhaps another family member, was running the property briefly then. I’ve never seen a manager as arrogant as him. The newest reviews are all one star, which makes it look like he’s back in the office 😆
