Ritzy Residence

The owners are very caring and happy to explain what there is to do in and around Kandy. It's a pretty little house near the train station, with the city centre about a 15-minute walk away. Rooms are small but nicely furnished and very clean, with AC.

Breakfast was way more than the two of us could eat, but really tasty: fruit juice, tea or coffee, jam, lots of fresh fruit, and a huge omelet. The owner family were unbelievably cute and helpful, and our clean room looked good. It was sometimes noisy outside, but using the fan, or the available AC, made it fine and we slept like babies. The monkeys in the morning were funny and made up for the noise. The railway station is about a 10-minute walk, and the city centre takes 15-20 minutes on foot. We felt welcome and had two good nights at Ritzy Residence. Well worth the money.

The owner and his wife were like angels, so friendly and helpful. She speaks good English and helped us plan trips, find places, and check train times. We showed up without a reservation for two nights, and this lovely couple had no problem finding us a room. It was clean and comfortable, with great Wi-Fi and the option of AC. There were adapters on every power outlet, a comfy bed with a mosquito net, and a very clean bathroom with a warm shower. The Tooth Temple is a 15-20 minute walk or a 300 rupee tuk tuk ride away. The main train station takes about 10-15 minutes on foot. I can highly recommend this place. And the breakfast is awesome!
