The staff were willing to help and would speak with other Sri Lankans for us when needed, but the stay itself was disappointing. Our room felt grim and uncomfortable, almost like a prison room, and was really unclean. Given the price and the hotel next door, I can understand how it happened, though. We preferred the hostel beside it. At the upstairs pub, happy hour drinks took over an hour to arrive. We should’ve just ordered beers. My friend’s food was forgotten, and that took an hour too. The food also tasted different from one night to the next. It felt like the staff hadn’t been trained properly.

We had fun at the pub, with live music and cold beer, even though we were nearly the only customers. It might suit younger people who aren’t looking for anything sophisticated, but at 28, we felt a bit old for it. The bathroom was super dirty, and the toilet was disgusting. There was a “sanitized” band on it, but I don’t think anyone had wiped it down. A power cut left us without electricity, though they gave us plenty of candles, which was fine. Breakfast at the pub was included and okay. Since we were leaving at 7:30, they ordered Uber eats for us.

After a day of walking around Kandy, we enjoyed the lively music, good drinks, and cold beer at Sizzlers. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the chicken kottu was really tasty. We’ll definitely come back :)

The room was clean, and the pool was amazing. The owners and staff were really friendly and helpful, and there’s a cool pub right next door with lots of different drinks :)
