There’s no lift, so getting to the top room meant climbing four or five flights of stairs. Once there, though, we had a clean, pleasant room with a balcony overlooking the lake, a jacuzzi, and great views. It’s very close to Tooth temple. Breakfast choices were limited, but what was offered was very nice.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a spacious room with a nice lake view. The location is great, though being right on the busy main strip means it can get a little loud, especially at peak hours. Something to keep in mind if noise bothers you.

We could walk beside the lake to the main sights and town centre, and our room’s balcony was lovely for watching the sunsets. The room was comfortable, with a clean bathroom, full shower supplies, and a lockbox for valuables. Someone was always at the desk, and the helpful staff found us a good bank and assisted with communication and translation. Wonderful location and service.

Kochte gave us great service at Viyana restaurant. We sat right across from Kandy lake, and the food was amazing. The egg fried rice was one of the best I had in Sri Lanka.

The staff really made this place stand out. The manager was wonderful, and whenever we came in, people greeted us warmly, asked about our day, or wished us a good night. They brought fresh water several times and shared helpful ideas for things to do in Kandy and nearby. One evening we had a lovely chat with the manager over tea. The hotel is right by the lake, an easy walk from the temple of the tooth relict and city centre. Breakfast was nice and fairly priced. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return to Kandy.
