We were delighted by how peaceful this hillside stay turned out to be. Although it’s about thirty minutes from Kandy, the mountain drive is scenic and the quieter setting became a real plus. We’d gladly stay again if we return. The food was a highlight: everything was freshly prepared in the main dining room, from delicious breakfast noodles to an amazing chicken curry. We ate on the veranda with lovely views in the morning and at sunset. Staff were kind and went out of their way to help, including arranging transport and making our stay comfortable. We also enjoyed a horse ride up the mountain, with stunning views. If horses aren’t for you, there’s a path for a hike, about an hour or more each way. The new property is still evolving, and we liked its unusual industrial modern, Southwest, and Eastern-inspired decor. Our spacious room had an amazing view, and we were happily surprised with an upgrade to their best room. There were some bugs outdoors and a few indoors, which is expected in the tropics. They use no chemicals, so there were surprisingly few bugs, and the natural wildlife, including beautiful birds, can thrive nearby. The four dogs, four horses, and cat were tame and well cared for. I appreciated the environmental and animal-friendly approach.

The location is breathtaking, though getting there is difficult, and the decor has so much thought behind it. This was the most luxurious place we stayed in Kandy. Food costs a bit more, but it was all beautifully prepared, with plenty of freshly cooked breakfast options. The staff were friendly. The dogs were happy and well cared for by Sri Lankan standards, and the needy cats were adorable. The horses looked a little thin, and some were limping, so I wasn’t sure they got to go out for long. Still, highly recommended.

Plan to arrive after 4:30 pm if you want to catch what they describe as Sri Lanka’s most beautiful sunset. The villas have breathtaking views, an infinity pool in each, and feel very luxurious. It’s peaceful, surrounded by nature sounds, with good food and tea at the restaurant and quick, experienced, friendly staff. There’s a large play area for children, and the place feels eco-friendly and romantic. You can request horse rides or use the helipad. It’s easy to reach in a private vehicle. A must-visit around Kandy, and one for the bucket list.

Getting into Kandy takes around 45 minutes on a secluded road, so it’s not the handiest base if you want to pop into town often. With your own driver, though, it works well. We spent two nights in a deluxe villa, with a glass wall opening the mountain views across the room and right into the jacuzzi. The villa also had its own infinity lap pool. The in-house chef served a delicious spread of Sri Lankan dishes for dinner, and breakfast had a broad selection of local food. A peaceful, luxurious place to relax, with very friendly staff and an easygoing feel.

We stayed for two nights and were unsure at first about being outside Kandy, but I’m so glad we chose it. The view was amazing, and the host was attentive and helpful. The meals were incredible, too. Just right for a relaxing stay.
