Lavendish Leisure Hotel - Kataragama My wife and I stayed at Lavendish Leisure on December 22, 2025. The entrance didn’t make a strong impression, but once inside, we found room 305 on the second floor spacious and clean. Staff carried our bags up for us. There were two queen beds with fresh white sheets, plus a long table where we could set our luggage. The room also had a TV, fridge, kettle, tea bags, and a stool. From the veranda, which had four chairs and a small table, I enjoyed an evening drink. The corridor outside the rooms overlooks the swimming pool on the first floor. The bathroom was clean and the towels fresh. They called to ask us to choose dinner from the available menu. We had fish and chips with soup, then a fruit platter. It was tasty, and the friendly waiters served us promptly. The restaurant was large but fairly quiet. Breakfast was a buffet with a wide selection of Sri Lankan and Western dishes.

We had lunch there only because my sister had paid in advance, and the service was horrible. Lunch was a reasonable Rs 1800 per person, but they charged us Rs 900 for each ice cream. Staff said the ice cream was included in the lunch deal, but it wasn’t. There were 11 of us. Rubbish hotel, and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. We believe the rooms are very poor too.

The location is super convenient, but the stay was disappointing. The facilities look worn and the property needs serious renovation and maintenance. The food wasn’t good, and service needs to improve. There was no one to help with the luggage.

Manager Indika kumara was friendly and very helpful, taking care of all my needs. The hospitality was very good. I enjoyed the breakfast, though it was a new taste for an Indian. It was prepared well and served on time. The budget was acceptable.

A calm, peaceful setting very close to Kataragama town, with friendly and attentive staff. The room was clean, with large comfortable beds, and there’s a nice pool too. Basic amenities, spacious parking, and easy access make this a budget-friendly stay.
