A quiet, affordable place to rest before or after a flight, with parking and a calm natural setting. Sun Up Hotel has recently been renovated, and the rooms were clean and hygienic. You can choose air conditioning or a non-AC room. The staff were respectful and helpful, and the manager was particularly welcoming and professional. There’s also a basic entertainment room for relaxing indoors. A good option for short stays, airport transfers, or a peaceful break in Negombo.

Wi-Fi barely worked, there was no hot water despite it being advertised, and noise at night made it difficult to sleep. Check-in took more than 30 minutes, the staff were unwelcoming and unresponsive, and nobody properly explained the facilities. The room itself was a letdown too. The sheets looked used, the bathroom smelled bad, and there were insects in the corners. For what I paid, I expected basic comfort and cleanliness, but this guest house fell short. I wouldn't recommend it without serious improvements.

I felt uneasy for my whole stay after seeing a staff member who seemed clearly under the influence, slurring, unsteady, and smelling strongly of weed. It felt unprofessional and unsafe. I reported it, but management did nothing. Very disappointing, and I won't return.
