Cocoplant Surf Inn

The roti shop right next door has amazing kottus, string hoppers, and rice and curry, which was a big bonus. You’re also close to a couple of good surf breaks, and Sampat (the owner) is always happy to help. This was my second time here and everything was great. The staff are super friendly, and I’m looking forward to coming back soon.

Plantation and Coconuts are two consistent breaks just across the street, and Rams is only minutes down the road for more advanced surfers. Cocoplant has the essentials for a solid surf trip: board rentals, lessons, and local advice. The air-conditioned rooms are clean, the staff are attentive, and there are good restaurants and amenities close by. It feels safe and friendly, too. Sampath, the owner, is trustworthy and has surfed this area since he was a kid. It’s locally owned, so don’t hesitate to book.

I was worn out from the trip down and had no idea where to surf, but these guys were a huge help. The room was comfortable, and they let me swap my hire board. The owner surfed with us most days, even when we weren’t taking lessons. The vibe around the inn is incredible. Total godsend.

The location is great for surfing in Midigama, with two breaks across the street and the others a short walk away. I’d booked a room for a solo trip, then my cousin decided to come at the last minute. The staff handled the change so kindly and upgraded us for free. They really go out of their way to help you feel comfortable, whether that’s bringing extra towels or making sure you have a safe ride to your next stop. I’d definitely stay at Cocoplant surf inn again. Thanks for being part of our trip!
