Himana Beach Rest

A peaceful, very clean room with a sea view and friendly service. It felt like home. Budget room with a 24-hour stay. Recommended 100%.

Himana Beach Rest in Matara has scenic views, but my visit was disappointing overall. The facilities felt limited for the price. There was no bathroom mirror, and the only fan was a stand fan, which made things uncomfortable. The owner also didn’t come across as friendly, leaving a poor impression. They charged the full-day rate for a half-day stay, which felt unfair and out of line with industry standards. For what I paid, I expected more facilities and warmer hospitality. The place fell short on both, so potential visitors should think carefully before booking.

It’s inexpensive, simple accommodation in a local area, right beside a beach without tourists, with a great view from the room and AC. But we found very little nearby for meals, and there wasn’t much around. The beach was used by locals, and there was nothing else there. The room and building felt gloomy to us, and we weren’t very comfortable. We’d pictured something different, so it didn’t meet our expectations. We cut our four-night booking down to one and went elsewhere. I’m still giving it a good review because I think plenty of people will like the location, it just wasn’t what we wanted for a rest after 12 days of traveling.

A small, quiet place with newly built rooms at reasonable prices. Some rooms have a beach view, and there’s a gate that leads straight to the beach, about 10 seconds away. It’s also very close to Paravi Dupatha Temple, around 750 m from the Bus Stand and 1.1 km from the Railway station. They don’t serve food, but the owner will supply whatever you need.
