Palace Mirissa

The hotel is at the top of a steep hill, so the walk back after the beach can be a challenge. The staff are friendly and helpful, and breakfast is good. Rooms, especially 1-5, have great views.

The peacocks knocking on the door were a fun surprise. The staff try hard to please, and the grounds and pool are fantastic. We had a beautiful room too. I was surprised it was only rated three stars, since much of it felt four star. Would recommend.

We stayed at the Palace Mirissa for two weeks altogether in February & March 2025, and it was easily the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The bungalows sit on a hill with beautiful sea views. We tried 205 and 206, and the view from 206 was spectacular. We could really hear the ocean, which was so peaceful. The property is well maintained, and the pool is beautiful. There were lovely peacocks, monkeys, iguanas, and birds around, and the sunsets were breathtaking. The bungalows are spacious, with colorful ceilings, comfortable beds, nice bathrooms and balconies. The air conditioning worked great, and there was a hair dryer and wifi. The young woman at the front desk and the manager did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. Restaurant staff were attentive, and both breakfast and dinner were tasty. Chef, you’re amazing! 👌 Paradise beach club, the sister hotel, is a five-minute walk down the hill. They have chairs and towels for the beach, plus a pool and great massages. If you don’t want to walk up or down, a tuk tuk isn’t very expensive. Everything is within walking distance. The restaurant is a lovely spot to watch the sunset, and the upper rooms have great bay views. They’re spacious, clean, and comfortable. The uphill walk is worth it for a meal or drink at sunset. The hotel also has a great partnership with a nearby beach resort for time by the sea during the day.
