The property is nicely decorated and in a calm, peaceful area. The room we got was tiny, though it had an attached bathroom and AC, and cost around 10€. The bed was okay, the bathroom was clean, and the AC, shower, and flush worked well. The mattress sheets didn't seem changeable. The house was badly soundproofed, and smokers didn't seem welcome. There was no baggage storage, which matters a lot for a transit stay, especially since it had been discussed beforehand. At 11 o'clock she said she wasn't happy with our behaviour, claiming we'd "banged the door" and left "dirt and ash everywhere." We hadn't banged the door. The dirt was one plastic bag we gave her husband to throw away because we couldn't find a bin. There was ash, yes, but there was no sign saying not to smoke where we were, and we put the cigarette end in the bin, so it was only ash. After that, she refused to store our luggage. I think they just don't want to store luggage at all, and some reviews say the same. The owners spoke very quietly, which I liked, but there were Christian and Buddhist figures everywhere, and I found them a little wired in that regard. It made me uncomfortable.

The owners are really kind and friendly, and they kept our backpacks for us while we spent a month touring around on a motorbike. The guesthouse is spotlessly clean, the cleanest place we've stayed in a long time. It's quiet and relaxed, in a lovely garden that the owners clearly enjoy tending. There's a covered outdoor spot for birds, fresh air, and greenery, plus an indoor sitting area to get away from mosquitoes at night. There's no WiFi, but a SIM card is enough. Read the guest comment book for tips and travel suggestions, we got lots of good ideas for our Sri Lanka road trip there. Several restaurants are within walking distance. Coffee Lab is close by and has great coffee and A/C when you need a break from the heat. An Uber tuk to the beach area cost us only 165 rupees. Highly recommend.

The host was very accommodating, and his book of travel advice, put together from recommendations by previous guests, was wonderful and really useful. We hoped to add to it when we came back. It's a great place to recover after the long flight from Europe. The rooms are simple, and if the power goes out, they turn into a hotbox. The host's wife makes a lively Sri Lankan breakfast.

I booked this place because it's close to the airport, planning to explore the city, collect my luggage in the evening, then get a lift to the airport, just 10 min away. My flight was the following evening. They wouldn't keep my backpack or drop me off, even though Booking said they could. Checkout is at 10 am, and they didn't care what I did with my bag for the rest of the day. I've travelled for more than a year and never heard of a property refusing to store luggage. They just kicked me out at 9.30 pm onto a dark street, my phone battery empty, with no suggestions for finding another room. They also don't do evening check-in because they're praying, and no one seemed interested in helping.
