Sentido Heritance Negombo

The pool was a lovely place to unwind, and we enjoyed a couple of very good cocktails from the pool bar. Heritance Ahungalla also has a beautiful design, a great view, and direct access to the beach. We booked four rooms for one night and had a really good stay, with friendly, attentive staff throughout. Food was mixed. Some dishes were good, but the room service fish and chips were the worst I’ve tried, and the baguette sandwich disappointed too. They didn’t include lemon with the fish and chips, which would have helped. Aside from those food issues, the atmosphere, service, pool, and beach access were all really nice.

We chose Sentido Heritance again for our last three nights in Sri Lanka before flying home to Australia. We’d stayed there on a TripAdeal tour in April 2025, and it still suited us well: about 13 km from Colombo International airport and close to restaurants outside the property. Our superior deluxe king room was comfortable and had lovely sea views. Reshan was professional and very helpful when we had a minor room issue. He offered us another room, but we stayed put after his team fixed the problem, and we were very pleased with how it was handled. The staff were attentive, cheerful, and helpful throughout. Breakfast was very good, especially the Hoppers, and everyone went about their work diligently. We really enjoyed coming back and would stay here again.

The chefs were the people who stood out most for us. They were always smiling and enjoyed chatting with guests. Kaveesha, who made omelettes, was lovely, and I hope he gets to visit Scotland one day. Janaaka was also happy to help with anything. The food was fresh and there was plenty of choice, though the restaurant itself felt noisy and a bit like a canteen, with bright lights. For a quieter, more romantic dinner, I’d go outside the hotel. I also found it intrusive to be asked to sign the drinks bill while we were still eating, since we might have wanted another drink. We came at the end of our tour to relax before going home, so we could compare the hotel with other places and service in sri lanka. Most of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful, though some less so, and the place felt corporate and a little short on charm. Our suite was lovely, with a great view, a comfortable bed, and a dining table in the adjoining room. When I asked if we could have dinner there, the answer was no, which made the table seem odd. A nice sofa area might work better. Sleep wasn’t great either. There’s a nightclub nearby that stays fairly loud until around 2 a.m., along with car noise and constant beeping from cars and bikes. I used earplugs. The cleaning team were great, as were the reception staff, especially Ishaara, who carried my heavy backpack to my room when we arrived. We had a nice time, but for the price and standard we’ve stayed in much nicer places. For us, one night after landing or before the flight home would have been enough.

We’re halfway through our stay at Heritance Negombo and have been loving this beautiful hotel. The restaurant is fabulous, and the food is delicious. Madu and Samantha took especially good care of us and deserve a mention. The staff are all so kind and attentive, always greeting us with wonderful smiles. We’re really glad we’ve spent time here.
