The staff and service were really good, and the room had a beautiful, refreshing view. We also enjoyed the pool and its relaxing atmosphere. I've visited twice, so I'm sharing this honestly: we booked Waterland on a BnB basis and paid quite a lot, but breakfast fell short in both quality and quantity. The choices were very basic for a villa of this standard. My pol roti was overcooked and below an acceptable standard. I understand the price may be largely for the exceptional view and location, but food quality stays in guests' memories. Better breakfasts would improve the stay and fit the premium pricing more closely.

Between the river and the canal, this is a peaceful spot that works beautifully at the start or end of a Sri Lanka trip. The private pool villas feel luxurious and secluded, and make it easy to relax. The staff were warm, attentive, and made the experience feel personal. A true tropical luxury escape, highly recommend.

The food was incredible, some of the best I've ever had. The place itself is amazing, and it felt like a luxury stay at a fair price. We loved both our first and last nights in Sri Lanka at Waterland. The private villa with its own pool was a treat, and the service and food were both great. It's right on the water and conveniently close to the airport. We'll definitely come back.

The pool and outdoor seating areas were great places to unwind, and the views were stunning. Waterland is peaceful, nicely designed, and surrounded by nature. My room was clean, spacious, and well decorated, with a very comfortable bed. The staff were welcoming and ready to help with anything we needed. I'd definitely return, and recommend it to anyone after a relaxing, enjoyable stay.
