We wanted a break from Sri Lanka’s busy feel, and Kent Cottage gave us exactly that. It’s a little outside the city, but staying there was incredibly relaxing and felt like being in a cozy cottage in the UK. The room was stunning, with a very comfortable bed and everything we needed in the bathroom. The night got chilly, but they brought us a heater so we could warm the room before bed. For breakfast, we picked a time and they made the food, coffee, and tea fresh for us, which felt really personal. The staff were warm and attentive throughout. They took good care of us, suggested food at the lovely pub across the road, and even offered to cook something for us. It was a different kind of stay, just what we expected when we booked.

It’s a tiny cottage, decorated really nicely with antiques that are lovely to look at. The place is old, but neat and clean, with a European style. I feel a renovation would leave it without any flaws.

Kent Cottage was our home for the first day of our anniversary trip to Nuwara Eliya. The house is beautifully designed and sits within the Little England Cottages scheme. Mr. Nalaka greeted us warmly right from the start. He’d made some lovely arrangements in the room for our anniversary, and he’s informative and easy to chat with. The room had a cozy feel, UK style furniture, and all the amenities we needed, from dental kits to extra towels. Breakfast the next morning was nicely arranged too. We had an A+ stay, and it served our purpose perfectly. When we come back to Nuwara Eliya, this will be our number one pick.

Nalaka, the Butler, was friendly and welcoming, and helped us get to several nearby tourist attractions. We also had a delicious English breakfast in the morning, cooked really well. We enjoyed the stay and would easily recommend Kent cottage to anyone. The cottage has a real English cottage feel, with antique decorations and architecture that suits Nuwara Eliya’s cold, misty weather. Both the inside and outside are lovely. The rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable, and well kept. It’s cozy and warm, and a great choice if you want something distinctive instead of a mainstream hotel.
