Mount View Cottage

The mountain top setting gave us a beautiful, peaceful view, one of the best parts of our recent March 2026 stay in Nuwara Eliya. Every room has its own balcony, and there are both double and family rooms. The owner was very kind and helpful, and safe parking had room for about 4-5 cars. The rooms are basic, with a bed and attached bathroom, and there’s no tea or coffee setup in the rooms. A shared kitchen and dining area on the ground floor is available if you want to prepare a drink. Hot water is available, though it can take around 5-10 minutes to warm up because of a boiler issue. Driving in may be tricky, as the entrance road is narrow and a bit damaged. It’s a good option for a quiet stay with a lovely view, as long as basic facilities suit you. 👍

The rooms were clean and comfortable, and there was hot water. The views are the real highlight, with Eagle View Point visible right from the window. Just don’t arrive after 5 or 6 PM, since the road is difficult to find in the dark and you have to climb up to reach the hotel. There’s no food on-site, though ordering through PickMe is easy.

We found getting there inconvenient, as the hotel is around 5-10 km away in a narrow mountain area. The service made the stay much worse. The woman in charge was rude and unprofessional, raised her voice and shouted when we tried to explain our situation, and confronted us aggressively. She also made an irrelevant claim about “Booking.com chairman Mr. James” owning their poor building and scolding her because we arrived late 😂. Her behavior was unacceptable enough that we recorded it for further action. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

The cottage has a lovely view, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Parking was good, and the place felt safe. Staff were friendly and very helpful, too. It’s budget friendly, so I’d highly recommend it 👍
