The extra tax and service added to the advertised price came to a hefty 28%, which felt like a lot. It may be mentioned in the small print, but that wasn’t standard in my experience in Sri Lanka. The hotel itself was lovely, with very nice staff and decent food. The cinnamon wood fires in the bar areas were fabulous, and turn-down service included a hot water bottle. Seriously nice and very necessary!

The colonial character and lovely surroundings give the hotel plenty of charm, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive from check-in through departure. The food was good too, with a decent choice and enjoyable options for both adults and children. We stayed one night with our two children and had a pleasant time overall. The rooms were functional and reasonably comfortable, but they’re showing their age and the interiors felt dated compared with what many travelers may expect today. Refurbishing them would improve the stay and bring the rooms more in line with the rest of the property.

We came to Nuwara Eliya to celebrate my birthday, and the hotel really exceeded what we expected. The setup and the whole menu the Chef proposed that day were magnificent. The rooms were spacious, the garden was well maintained, and breakfast was fabulous. Great hospitality and good value for money. We’ll definitely come back!

The warm fire in the lobby was amazing on cool evenings, and breakfast had a good mix of Srilankan and western dishes. This was our third stay at St Andrew's, this time with my family. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was clean and spacious. Highly recommend.

What made the stay so special was the staff. They made a point of handling every request, however small, and checked in each day to see how we were doing. The customer service was the best I’ve experienced in Sri Lanka, and maybe anywhere I’ve travelled. Huge thanks to managers Clive and Gowry and the whole team. From the gates, the flower gardens around the grounds are beautiful. The hotel lobby and halls have a classic early 19th century feel. Our room was snug, quiet, and homey, with warm heating pads tucked under the blanket. The wooden floors felt warm even though it was chilly outside, and the garden view added to the peaceful feel. There was lots of natural light in the bathroom shower area too. A cozy little haven up in the clouds.
