A welcoming host family, tasty food, and comfortable rooms. The location makes it easy to reach Sinharaja, and there are good guides available too.

The location is just perfect, and everyone was so kind. It’s an amazing hotel, and I’d highly recommend staying here.

For a budget-friendly room in a great spot, with a kind and helpful family and a view, this worked really well for us. If you expect European room standards, though, it may not suit you. We had a few friendly ant visitors crawling along the walls, for example. We stayed for two weeks with my boyfriend and were very happy with our room for two. It had a comfortable bed with a mosquito net, two fans, a desk, a little couch, a nightstand with a small lamp, two outlets, and a TV. The simple bathroom was convenient and had hot water, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The room looked out onto nature and the river, and the house was within walking distance of the Sinharaja rainforest entrance, the night tour path, other hotels with restaurants and pools, walking trails, and waterfalls. The family helped arrange activities, drove us when we needed to go somewhere, gave us free snacks, and sorted out our departure bus. They made everything easy.

The lack of proper parking was a letdown at first, but the rest of our stay more than made up for it. The rooms were clean and maintained well, and we appreciated the hot water and free Wi-Fi. It seems well suited to a small family or a group of four or five. The owner, Mr. Ananda, was among the kindest and most helpful people we’ve met. He even gave us a free tuk-tuk ride to the nearby rainforest entrance. His wife prepared every meal fresh and with care, and the food was delicious. The rates are fair and good value. We had a wonderful experience overall and recommend it for a peaceful, homely stay.
