The place is in a great spot and looks really nice. I’d been here about 10 years ago and remembered it as a good place. We had the buffet for 3000 rupees per person. The selection wasn’t the greatest, but it was okay, and I thought it was fair for the price, though others may feel differently. My lower rating is mainly about the service. There were many foreign guests, and it seemed to me that attention went mostly to them, maybe because they tip well. I’m Australian too, though brown skinned, and I’m a very generous tipper, especially at smaller places where staff need it more. Since we felt we weren’t getting service, we chose not to tip. When I was getting the car, we planned to leave a nice tip for the security guard, but he was chatting with a driver while a van blocked our exit. He didn’t help move it, and traffic started to jam, so I put the money back in my pocket. The location is great, but the service could be a little better. If 3000 rupees feels cheap to you, maybe the cheap service makes sense.

We had barely any sleep because of the noise when it rained. Our room was on the top floor, and the tin roof made the rain sound incredibly loud. After heavy rain, the nearby waterfall was also very loud because the terrace door didn’t seal properly at the bottom. There were other problems too: the room wasn’t very clean, we found dirty linen, and the double bed had only one sheet. With lots of mosquitoes around, there was no net, and the lights kept flickering. Breakfast was quite rich with a good variety, and the room was spacious, but there weren’t even napkins at breakfast. Overall, a disappointing stay.

The location made it easy to explore nearby attractions, and the food had plenty of variety and was delicious. Rumble Hotel’s rooms were spacious, clean, and well maintained. Staff were very friendly and helpful, always checking that I was comfortable and looked after. I had an amazing stay in Sri Lanka and will definitely come back. Highly recommend Rumble Hotel.

We came for lunch and were blown away by the setting and the view of the natural surroundings. The walk to the private waterfall area was manageable and enjoyable. Access seemed limited to hotel guests, so it was peaceful and we saw very few people. Lunch was excellent too, with a buffet offering lots of variety and good quality. A lovely choice for a special meal with a stunning view and a sense of privacy and calm. Highly recommend.

The views are stunning, and the hotel is clean and well maintained, with courteous staff. If you walk to the waterfall, there’s an old chap there who says he’s a painter and sells paintings. You should encourage him by buying one.
