Sigiriya Amenity Home Stay

We could get around on foot or use the nearby buses and tuk-tuks, and the location worked alright. The room was clean and good, with working AC, a nice shower, and good WiFi. There was also a small patio outside the house where we could sit. Good breakfast and good value for money.

We saw plenty of birds in the garden, and breakfast was good. They made it vegetarian for us. The host was kind and offered suggestions when he asked about our plans, but he was completely fine when we declined. We stayed two nights. The room was clean and roomy, with air conditioning, plus chairs and a table outside to relax. It felt secure and tucked behind the property. Dogs barking woke us one night, but there are lots of dogs in Sri Lanka, so it didn’t bother us. It’s a great spot for the little pidurangala viewpoint, though you’ll need a tuk-tuk to get there.

The staff were lovely and arranged a 5am tuk-tuk for our sunrise hike up the rock, plus an incredible safari. Our driver, Tharanga, was excellent, and we saw at least 60 elephants. The safari was well worth the money. Beds were comfy and the AC was decent. On the first rainy day a cockroach and a few frogs came in, but we could get them out easily. We even found a frog in the toilet one day 😂 We had a great stay.

The owners were really friendly and helpful, and can sort out most things, from elephant tours and taxis to rides to sights and washing. Breakfast was lovely too. A very nice homestay.
