Sunray Beach House

We only spent one night here, but had a great time. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is in a good spot to watch the fishermen bring in their nets. You can join in if you like. The host lady made us dinner: fresh fish with local spices, rice, curry and salad. It was delicious, one of our best meals in Sri Lanka. Breakfast was amazing too. I'd definitely recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed.

We had a lovely time with this family-run business. The beach is right there, the food and hospitality are great, and the town centre is close enough for daily supplies. Local fishermen pull their nets in right in front of you, and they'll even invite you to help with the hauling and push their boats onto the beach. The hosts were also a great help arranging a turtle visit. We saw a green turtle lay her eggs and then return to the sea.

I stayed three nights in February 2025 and really enjoyed it. The rooms were sparkling clean, and the air conditioning was quiet and worked well. The family who run the place made me feel welcome, and I like that kind of family-run business. It's right on the beach, so each night I could fall asleep to the waves. The home-cooked food was excellent, made with fish caught fresh that morning. Breakfasts were huge, with a choice of Western or Sri Lankan food. My only regret is that I didn't book a longer stay.

I was there in the rainy season, but the beach was still beautiful. Bring an umbrella and enjoy it! In the mornings you can watch, or help, the fishermen push their boats into the ocean and pull in the nets. That was an amazing experience. Nadjila and the whole family made me feel welcome and did everything they could to make my stay a good one. His sister is a fantastic cook, so try her Sri Lankan breakfast and rice and curry.
